2. Review induction/deduction. Here is a video to help if you are still confused.
3. Practice - create an outline for your argumentative speech, either using inductive or deductive logic. If you are using inductive logic, list three concrete examples and your conclusion. If you are using deduction, create a syllogism to with a major premise, minor premise, and conclusion to represent your argument. Good luck!

My apologies for not updating in a while! Last week, we looked at the 2000 Eudora Welty Rhetorical Analysis Prompt, and talked about Assertion-Evidence-Commentary structure in our writing. On Friday, we wrote one analytical body paragraph for this prompt, using the topic sentences found in Google Classroom.
Yesterday - some fun Halloween video analysis!
Today - We started looking at JFK's Inaugural Address. We listened/read the speech, and then completed SOAPSTone analysis. Here are the slides from today.

On Tuesday, we reviewed the 3rd participial phrase exercise, then talked about using Rhetorical Verbs when identifying rhetorical strategies. We added to the 2nd chart in our "C-Word in the Hallways" Planning Document, adding rhetorical strategies to the chosen quotes. Here's my example!
On Thursday, we took the Participial Phrase quiz (in Google Classroom) and reviewed Thesis statements. Homework is to complete the rhetorical analysis essay for "C-Word in the Hallways". Check out this handout to see templates you can use to organize your essay.
